Another Feminist Has Been Criminalized. This Must Stop!
The feminist campaigner Marion Millar has been charged under the Malicious Communications Act 1988 with a hate crime aggravation for sending tweets about transgenderism and women’s rights. It’s not clear exactly what she said, apart from that one tweet included a photograph of a ribbon on a wire fence. She may have had to delete the tweets for legal reasons. But most of what she does tweet is fairly mild. It doesn’t appear she threatened to harm anyone. Or said anything particularly bad. But she could face up to two years in prison. All for hurting someone’s feelings.
The way she is being treated is outrageous. We live in an Orwellian society. Go against the dogma, and you’re breaking the law. But what baffles me the most is that the police couldn’t care less about any other crime. Report something to the police -say, vandalism or theft- and you’re met with total ambivalence. They never seem to investigate crimes. It’s rare that anyone gets caught. But tweet something upsetting, and the police are all over it. Do the police really think pursuing a feminist with two children with Autism for being controversial on social media is what the public wants to see? Is that the best use of their time? I’d rather the police worried less about social media and more about real crimes. Like burglary, or rape.
I hope for all our sakes that Millar doesn’t get convicted. It could be any one of us next. Free speech is being threatened yet again in the name of transgenderism. The law is being used to force us to swallow transgenderism and stop us from questioning it. It needs to be reformed as a matter of urgency to protect freedom of speech. For now, let’s hope the judge makes the right decision and lets her walk free.
